Supreme Court refuses to stay AP bifurcation

- SC refused to stay the March 1 notification to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Seemandhra with effect from June 2.

- Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the Bench posted final hearing to August 20 and indicated that if it decided to refer the issue for adjudication by a five-judge Constitution Bench, it would frame questions.

- SC said that EC could inquire into complaints of paid news against a political leader if the expenditure incurred on it was not disclosed.

- Addressing a road show, he held the BJP, TDP, Congress and the YSRC responsible for the State division.

- Even as a case is pending with the Supreme Court, the political parties have launched a campaign stating that the division is over.

- People like Mr. Chandrababu Naidu are promoting themselves as champions of Telangana in that region. I am confident that the judgment will be in favour of Samaikyandhra,” he said.
